Earley Gunners vs Southbank 0 - 5

Match Report

Gunners poor run of form continued as they lost in the Cup against Southbank Res.

Gunners gifted Southbank the lead when a poor clearance gave Southbank a virtual open goal and they took their chance to earn a 1-0 lead.

Southbank soon added a second when Gunners were caught asleep after believing they should have been awarded a foul and Southbank added a second.

Gunners then began to play some passing football and worked the ball well on a few occasions up the pitch but lack some real penetration and found chances hard to come by.

Southbank added a third goal when they volleyed in a headed clearance from the edge of the box which gave them a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the second half Gunners switched to a 3-5-2 formation to try and push an extra man into midfield and whilst the team had some good possession, they found the clear chances hard to come by again.

Gunners tried to commit men forward but this left the team open to the counter attack and Southbank added a fourth goal which really killed off any chance Gunners thought they had.
Southbank added a fifth goal to continue Gunners misery and eventually cantered to an easy win.

For Gunners, it was another poor performance.
