Earley Gunners vs AFC Twyford 0 - 3

Match Report

An off form Gunners were beaten by AFC Twyford at home.

AFC Twyford had the benefit of the wind and slope in the first half and had the better of the early exchanges creating a couple of opportunities to score.

However, Gunners came back into the game and nearly opened the scoring when they forced a corner and then had three shots blocked in the six yard box in quick succession.

It was AFC Twyford who took the lead when they headed in from a free kick and they made it two a few minutes later with another header although it looked like the opposing forward had fouled the Gunners player marking him.

The half time score was 2-0.

Gunners made the worst possible start to the second half when Duncan fumbled the ball allowing AFC Twyford to steal in for a third.

Gunners then had a good period of momentum and had several chances on goals from headers and hit the post. The AFC Twyford keeper made a couple of good saves to prevent a goal and AFC Twyford managed to get through this period.

Gunners made a tactical change throwing caution to the wind and pushed another player further upfield. This left Gunners under pressure from a counter attack but the team did just enough to prevent AFC Twyord from scoring. However, Gunners were unable to create any good chances and possession was wasted time and time again with aimless balls upfield, which was symptomatic of Gunners play all day.

Steve Tranter had a couple of chances to score and Gunners were again stretched when AFC Twyford broke forward but neither side could find the back of the net, leaving Gunners defeated.

Gunners will need to raise their game for the final few games of the season if they are to mount a serious challenge for the league title. Gunners "Man of the Match" was Steve Tranter
