Stevie B's vs Earley Gunners 4 - 2

Match Report

Gunners were unlucky not to get a point against league favourites Stevie B’s.

Gunners started the game well and despite Stevie B’s having a few wayward shots early on it was Gunners who took the lead when Peter Ali fed Richard Alderton who scored with the outside of his right foot.

Stevie B’s put Gunners under some pressure but Andy Birch came out well on a couple of occasions to clear the ball. Gunners then lost Paul Ali shortly before half time to injury.
However, Stevie B’s managed to equalise before half time when they squeezed a shot in from a tight angle.

In the second half, Gunners again took the lead when Lee Bonnici was fouled in the box and Dave Owen converted the penalty.

Matt Rees then retired from the game due to an injury and with Gunners having no further subs the team was reduced to 10 men for the last 30 minutes.

The team worked very hard and were put under a great deal of pressure and held out until the last ten minutes before they eventually conceded a goal.

However, after Stevie B’s scored one goal they continued to press their advantage and then added two further late goals to seal the win. The final result was a 4-2 win.

Gunners "Man of the Match" was Marcus Randles for a very good display although credit must be given to the whole team for the effort shown today.

Woodley vs Earley Gunners 3 - 5

Match Report

Gunners came back from 3 - 0 down to earn a win against a "different" looking Woodley side.
Woodley started the better and took an early lead and then added a second from a close range header after a long throw into the box was not cleared. Gunners lack of aerial presence was again under scrutiny as Woodley added a third from a corner.

However Gunners did pull a goal back before half time through Dave Owen after being set up by Nick Chalk.

Overall Gunners were poor in the first half with the team very quiet and looking uncomfortable on the ball, the windy conditions and hard ground did not also made conditions more difficult.
However, things were turned round in the second half thanks to two good strikes from Dave Owen and a brace from Matt Rees which earned Gunners a 5 - 3 win.

The team played with more confidence in the second half and finally started to create more chances.

Gunners "Man of the Match" for the second week running was Dave Owen

Palmer FC vs Earley Gunners 9 - 4

Match Report

Gunners lost 9 - 4 to the league leaders but can hold their heads up high after a good battling performance.

Gunners started the game well and went two goals up in ten minutes through Stuart Bye and then Dave Owen who scored direct from a corner.

However, Adie Smith was then harshly sent of for swearing and Gunners were reduced to ten men for the next 80 minutes of the game.

Palmer pulled a goal back before Matt Rees played Stuart Bye through for his second but Palmer added another two goals from set pieces to make it 3-3 at half time.

In the second half Palmer took the lead for the first time in the game but Paul Ali levelled the game at 4-4 before Palmers hit back two minutes later to make it 5-4. Palmers extra man began to tell and they played some good football using the extra men to stretch Gunners.

Palmer then began to dominate possession and scored four more goals before the end of the game although Gunners felt the referee made a couple of dubious decisions including awarding a penalty against Gunners and another goal when it looked like Palmer had at least three players off side.

However, with Gunners down to ten men, the team were never going to come back when Palmer took the lead. Overall, it was a good battling effort by the team where everyone gave 100% this was epitomised by the efforts of Dave Owen who was Gunners "Man of the Match".
