Purple Turtle vs Earley Gunners 2 - 1

Match Report

Gunners lost their second league game in a row against Purple Turtle. Gunners had an early break through when Dave Owen opened the scoring direct from a corner. However
Purple Turtle did not let their heads go down and continued to fight back going close on a couple of occasions.

Gunners found it difficult to retain possession of the ball and were unable to create many opportunities in the first half.

The half time score was 1-0 to Gunners.

Gunners created an early chance in the second half when Paul Clark flicked the ball to Dave who went close. Unfortunately, this was Gunners only real effort on goal in the second half as Purple Turtle dominated the rest of the game.

As in the first half Gunners were unable to hold onto the ball upfront and were outplayed in midfield.

The defence were under constant pressure and Purple Turtle grabbed an equaliser with they scored with a free header from a corner.

This gave Turtle the incentive they needed and they drove on for a second goal which they scored late in the game from close range after a free kick from the edge of the box.
Gunners were unable to respond in the final few minutes leaving Purple Turtle deserving the win.

Gunners "Man of the Match" was Julian Willis for a good display in goal.
Gunners will really need to improve upon this performance if they are to finish in the top half of the table.
